The three initial Imaginary Dead Ex-Girlfriends paintings were created over a period of a couple months in mid-2007. All of the images were inspired directly by some strange dreams concerning femininity, fertility, and motherhood. They were a step away from the pin-up drawings I made in college, toward a more meaningful personification of the female character in my work. The fourth painting (at top) was created in the fall of 2010.
