In November of 2008, I completed a project for the web-based Minneapolis company Hygge & West. My job was to create a series of four black-and-white illustrations, based around nursery rhymes and fairy tales, to be sold as prints for children. I was mostly free to determine the aesthetic of the series, and I tried to put a subtle modern spin on it. The final illustrations shown below depict, in order: Jack and the Beanstalk; Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star; Hey, Diddle, Diddle; and The Princess and the Pea. They are followed by process drawings produced over the course of the project.
